Showing Holistic and Compassionate Care to Persons Suffering from Schizophrenia

I had a college friend who was a classic geek and he was very famous. Despite of his poor communication skills and sarcasm behaviors towards other students, his personal hygiene was wanting. Due to his behavior, while interacting with other college mates, he would at times face extreme troubles. It did not last long before we discovered the cause behind his behavior, he was suffering from mental illness.
The mental incidents, would not bother to suppress whether in social functions or within a crowd. There are times he would walk in an event and disrupt the peace and joyous moments taking place. It is hard dealing with this kind of people as the world may not understand the dilemma they are living in. For you to relate with them, you have to be patient and calm them down when they get agitated, a role I took in college. We could try to get him away from the sight of the cruel crowd.

The bigger percentage in our society is not aware of the inappropriate and feelings experienced by persons with mental disorder and may harm them to protect themselves. People with upright thoughts may have different versions of interpreting the behavior of the mentally ill patients. Knowing that it is improper to despise anyone, our college friends would defend their actions with the excuse of not being aware of the struggles our friend was going through. But being a Christian college, it is conduct that was hard to understand, why one should be despised openly.

Being a condition of a mental disorder such individuals face rough time in their daily life due to the manner in which they are treated in the community. The role lies with every one of us with the church taking the lead, to show compassion and care to the patients suffering from mental instability. We have to let go of the malicious believes in our society and support these individuals through treatment and recovery process. Very true that we believe that God is our true healer, but we have to take the right medication, it does not affect our faith at all.

The big question remains, what effects do mental treatments have on our Christian faith, that is different from physical therapies. I beg to understand the connection of therapies and Christian faith, besides the difference in antidepressants and chemotherapy We should not divide the mind and the body, you cannot be complete without the two. The mental illness is termed as a spiritual issue which requires solutions of spiritual interventions. But it is crucial to be realistic and take good care of our beloved ones who are suffering.

It seems our people in the society have started taking an influential step towards the mental illness subject. In the church today, counseling and medication and CBD oil are recommended for mental illness. It is a complete and compassionate step towards the care of our mentally ailing persons in the society.
